Belleville, IL. (1/11/22) Sticking true to the focus of offering classes to fit drivers as they progress through the sport, POWRi continues to build upon the momentum of the more than prevalent youth movement the racing world is witnessing.
Resetting the POWRi record-books in 2021 would see victory lanes become younger and younger with the level of talent repeatedly raised as two drivers would notch victories barely into their teenage years in CB Industries’ Brent Crews and KKM’s Gavan Boschele.
Becoming the youngest Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League feature winner on July 17th at Valley Speedway, Brent Crews of Mooresville North Carolina, at just thirteen years and three-months-old would impress all season earning a runner-up championship campaign with five wins on the year.
Not far behind Crews in age, fellow-thirteen-year-old competitor and North Carolina cohort Gavan Boschele would also make a name for himself earning his first career-POWRi midget victory at Lake Ozark Speedway in September and earning fifteen top-ten finishes in 2021.
Now with changes in the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals, both drivers will be making their debut in the historic Expo Center Midget event as officials announced in November that adjustments to the age restrictions would be altered.
Running on Monday’s Cummins Qualifying Night, Gavan Boschele continues to build his open-wheel legend becoming the high-point qualifier after heat racing action and earning a top-ten for the feature event. Brent Crews is scheduled to compete in the Chili Bowl Nationals on Thursday’s JCT Qualifying Night.
