Belleville, IL. (1/31/2022) With the intention to keep Micro racing a fun, safe, simple class that is accessible to both current and new participants while continuing to broaden sanctioning horizons, POWRi is excited to sanction to 600cc MicroSprints Australia Series.
The newly formed POWRi 600CC MicroSprints Australia aims to provide a competitive, fun, and enjoyable racing environment without the red tape and will see the series debut on Sunday, February 6th at Lake Liddell Speedbowl in Muswellbrook, NSW.
“Lake Liddell Speedbowl is still a very new facility; it was purpose-built for micros and is the only venue like it in the country,” said series promoter Mitchell Biner about the debut of the MicroSprints. Adding, “It's a mix of Millbridge and Port City.”
“We wanted to offer something different for the drivers,” Biner said, “as a home-track for the development of the POWRi 600cc MicroSprints Australia we want to see growth to have driver input and include other venues.”
Committing to three stand-alone events to kick-start the series, communication with the drivers will be open stated Mitchell, including “I want to understand what they want, how often they want to race, and what they expect out of a series.”
“Nearly all racing in Australia is club-run, and although it has worked for so long, I feel another option may be more beneficial to the racer” stated Biner. Including, “Finding dates that work for most and don't clash with other tracks is the hardest part. We just don't have the competitor base of drivers around to spread over multiple venues on the same day.”
Representing a goal “to offer a product where there was clear direction and an easy process to change things for the better of the sport if needed. If a driver or owner has questions or concerns, they can deal with the series directly to get the clarification they need without a drawn-out process” said Mitchell Biner about the development of the series.
Full Series Schedule will be released as soon as confirmed for the 2022 season and beyond with updates forthcoming on the POWRi 600cc MicroSprints Australia Series Facebook page.
