Belleville, IL. (5/8/22) Finding a duo of leading POWRi Lighting Sprint Series events scheduled for competition over the past weekend, the Midwest and the Rocky Mountain Divisions would take center stage in an attempt to continue the dramatic National Points chase with the quest to become the Inaugural League champion continuing to wage as Chase Fischer and Johnny Boos would add to their respective individual win counts.
Currently, within the POWRi Lightning Sprint National Point Championship standings, Braden Chiaramonte clings to a slight advantage heading into the third month of sanctioned competition. Early divisional leader Dalton Sexton and SWLS patriarch Brent Sexton remain in the podium placement with Chase Fischer, from the Midwest entering the top-ten this week, as the only major mover in the standings.
Thrilling battles from the POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints would find perennial open-wheel powerhouse Chase Fischer capture his second feature victory of the young 2022 MLS season in the final visit to Central Missouri Speedway before the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals on May 28-29. Driving to his twelfth series victory, Fischer would outrun the onslaught of efforts by runner-up finisher and heat race winner Tom Brown. Chasity Younger would race among the frontrunners for most of the feature to finish third as Bobby Layne hard-charged his way past six other drivers to place fourth with Tyler Johnson rounding out the POWRi MLS at Central Missouri Speedway's top-five finishers.

Intense action from the POWRi EMi Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprints would debut their 2022 racing season as the series home venue of I-76 Speedway on Saturday, May 7th with Johnny Boos gaining his POWRi Lightning Sprint League-leading twenty-fourth career series feature victory. Defending the RMLS series championship truly, Boos would not waste any time gaining his first regional win of the early season with Frank Martinez finishing closely behind in the runner-up position as Troy Ullery placed third. Josh Flood would hold back the hard-charging Jenn Woods to place fourth leaving Woods to round out the I-76 Speedway top-five finishers with the POWRi RMLS. Heat race winners included Johnny Boos and Chris Crowder.
