Belleville, IL. (10/6/2022) Overshadowing the opposition on the season, Kory Schudy, of Battlefield Missouri, would claim the championship of the 2022 Lucas Oil POWRi Wingless Auto Racing Sprint League Season Point Champion in a resounding display of driving dominance.
“Winning the championship this year means a lot to our team. Everyone involved works really hard to make sure we are as prepared as possible each weekend. We've also had the same core sponsors behind us over the years and that makes another championship even better,” said Schudy on how the team effort capped off the championship.
Adding to the accolades of the 2019 POWRi WAR Rookie of the Year and 2018 POWRi West Midget League Championship, Kory would remain steadfast all season to earn the 2022 Wingless Auto Racing Sprint League title impressively.
“It all starts with Jon and Jessica Sawyer with JSR. They give us great equipment and our sponsors do everything to keep us up front; As far as next year we don't have anything set in stone but when the schedule comes out, we'll take a look and make some plans,” said Kory Schudy about joining the POWRi WAR championship ranks while looking ahead to the future.
Acquiring a staggering six quick-times to tie for most in a two-season span, Schudy would start in all eighteen features this year with one heat race win as well as three high-point qualifier awards. Including eleven top-10 finishes and nine top-5 placements, Kory would notch a trio of feature wins to bump his total win count to nine, which ties him for fifth in all-time POWRi WAR wins.
Supporting Jon & Jessica Sawyer Racing, Empire Energy, Sprint Lawn Care, Hughs Bros, Vehicles Unlimited, Green Mountain Grilling, VP Racing Fuel, Champion Oil, XXX Chassis, Wesmar Racing Engine, #28; Kory Schudy looks to build upon previous successes and continue to climb the ranks amongst the nation’s top traditional sprint talents.
