Belleville, IL. (8/13/23) Cumulating the weeklong challenge of open-wheel adrenaline rushes at a trio of outstanding hosting venues, the Fifth Annual POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals, as well as the hosting POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Series, would welcome competitors from all over the United States and Canada for a two-state journey of speed and sportsmanship with Victoriaville Quebec talent Alex Therrien emerging victorious to claim the overall weeklong POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints Nationals Series Points Championship.
Enduring the rainout cancelation of the originally scheduled four-day challenge at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon Minnesota on Sunday Night, competitors from all over would be judged in points on the previous three events.
Flying onto the Nationals stage with an outstanding runner-up finish to open the week at Devils Lake Speedway, Alex Therrien would back up the solid showing with a respectable eleventh-place finish the next night at River Cities Speedway. Flexing his driving might on Saturday, Therrien would thrill in the forty-lap main event at Greenbush Race Park to clinch the feature win as well as notch enough weeklong points to secure the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals Series Title.
Taking the trophy across the border, Therrien joins solid company as Nationals winners with defending POWRi Lightning Sprint Points Champion Alex Truscinski, young-up-and-comer California wheelman Braden Chiaramonte, all-time win-count leader Johnny Boos, as well as open-wheel journeyman Chris Crowder also touting such bragging rights.
The top ten points earners from the weeklong journey of northernly speed upon the completion of the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals hosted by the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint series events were 1. #21-Alex Therrien(Victoriaville, QC), 2. #16N-Mike Neau(Pleasant Prairie, WI), 3. #24B-Johnny Boos(Lakewood, CO), 4. 11-Dexter Dvergsten(Greenbush, MN), 5. 3S-Grant Sexton(Lakeside, CA), 6. 61-Jesse Fernandez(Parker, CO), 7. 29-Stephane St-Laurent(Magog, QC), 8. 24L-Jeremy Lafleur(St-Clotilde-De-Horton, QC), 9. 44-Brent Sexton(Lakeside, CA), 10 Mark Heinert(Waukesha, WI).
