Belleville, IL – After a weekend off after the Iron Man 55 for the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and a two week hiatus for the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series, both divisions will head to Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois on Friday, August 19th for the “Night Before the Illinois State Fair.” On Saturday, August 20th, both series take to “Mighty Macon” Speedway for the 1st Annual Camfield Memorial honoring the late Rich Camfield.
Rich Camfield of Decatur, Illinois was an ardent supporter of midget racing not only throughout the Midwest, but nationwide. Driver of the #87 midget, Rich was the 2001 Midwest Auto Racing Association (MARA) Champion and a frequent participant in the annual Chili Bowl Nationals. A stone’s throw away from Rich’s hometown, it was only fitting for Macon Speedway to be the track for the Annual Rich Camfield Memorial.
Heading to Lincoln Speedway, Zach Daum holds a 490 point lead over Tanner Thorson in the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series standings. Spencer Bayston is currently in third with two victories to this point in 2016, a mere 60 points behind Thorson. Justin Peck sits fourth, 120 points behind Bayston. Jake Neuman rounds out the top five, 100 points out of fourth place.
In POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series competition, Nathan Benson holds a 560 point lead over Shelby Bosie. Jeremy Camp is in third, 560 points behind Bosie. Joe B. Miller currently holds fourth, 220 points behind Camp. Alec Long is in fifth, 130 points behind Miller.
