Belleville, IL - The 2017 POWRi Lucas Oil Division II Midget Series schedule has been released featuring 34 events. The Division II Midgets will kick off 2017 with a double-header weekend on April 21st at Lincoln Speedway and Macon Speedway on April 22nd.
On Thursday, April 27th, the Division II Midgets will visit Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois for the event dubbed Throwback Thursday. Throwback Thursday will feature the Division II Midgets, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR East Sprint Car Series. Route 66 Raceway shares the same hallowed ground as the famed Chicagoland Speedway and the Route 66 Dragstrip.
For the second year, the Division II Midgets will again be a part of Illinois SPEED Week. Fairbury American Legion Speedway will anchor the opening night of Illinois SPEED Week on Thursday, June 1st. The series will then head to Jacksonville Speedway on Friday, June 2nd before Macon Speedway on Saturday, June 3rd. Illinois SPEED Week will then conclude on Sunday, June 4th at Lincoln Speedway. It should also be noted that IMRA has agreed to keep the Illinois SPEED Week open on their schedule to allow teams to avoid any conflicts.
Friday, June 9th will kick off another big weekend for the POWRi Lucas Oil Division II Midget Series, as they head to Lincoln Speedway for the first of three nights of racing. Saturday night the series will head to Spoon River Speedway for night two of the weekend, but the first night of the Aaron Hull Memorial Weekend. Sunday, the series will round out the weekend at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa. The Aaron Hull Memorial weekend will be two of six nights in 2017 that will be co-sanctioned with IMRA.
Other co-sanctioned events with IMRA include the return of the Division II Midgets to the Champaign County Fairgrounds on July 21st after a successful debut in 2016, the Herb Barlow Memorial at Jacksonville Speedway on September 8th, the Tom Knowles Memorial on September 9th at Spoon River Speedway, and the Rail Splitter at Spoon River Speedway on September 30th.
Another standout weekend for the Division II Midgets includes the June 30th / July 1st weekend at Belle-Clair Speedway. Staring alongside the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series, the Division II Midgets will run Friday night in the Belle-Vegas Bash and then Saturday in the Knepper Memorial.
The POWRi Lucas Oil Division II Midget Series are slated to conclude their 2017 season at Jacksonville Speedway on Saturday, October 14th.
