The POWRi Division II Midgets are set to open up this Friday and Saturday, with a doubleheader weekend at two Central Illinois tracks. On Friday, the nimble racecars visit Lincoln Speedway, the 1/4-mile dirt track in Lincoln, IL, for their season opener. Then on Saturday, the series will head 45 minutes southeast to Macon Speedway, in Macon, IL.
On Friday night, the headlining event is the Railsplitter 40 for the Midwest Street Stock Championship Series. It's a brand new series, which will be running seven events this season. The event will be paying $800 to the winner and $80 to start, both high numbers for the division. A strong field of UMP sanctioned cars is expected.
Pro Late Models, Modifieds, and Hornets will join the POWRi DII Midgets presented by Nutech Seed and Street Stocks at Lincoln.
Pit gates open Friday afternoon at 3:00, grandstands at 5:00, pill draw ends at 6:00, hot laps start at 6:15, and racing will begin at 7:00. Grandstand admission is just $15 for adults and kids 11 and under are free. In honor of college night, all current college students with proper ID will receive free admission.
On Saturday, six divisions of racing will be on hand at Macon Speedway, for the second night of action at the 1/5-mile facility. Joining the DII Midgets will be Pro Late Models, Billingsley Elite Wash Modifieds, Big Ten Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Hornets.
On Saturday, pit gates will open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, the pill draw ends at 5:50, hotlaps begin at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00. Grandstand admission will be $12 for adults and free for kids 11 and under. Just like Lincoln, college students will be free after showing their current/valid college ID.
