Belleville, IL – This Thursday, April 27th three POWRi Leagues will take the Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Joliet, Illinois for Throwback Thursday – Open Wheel Style. Sitting idle for almost a dozen years with the exception of some specialty shows, the sweeping 3/8 mile Dirt Oval at Route 66 will roar to life featuring a trifecta of action with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League, POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint Car League, and POWRi Lucas Oil D-II Midget League.
Conveniently nestled on the south-side of Joliet, Illinois, the Dirt Oval at Route 66 sits a stone’s throw away from the famed Chicagoland Speedway.
Thursday’s event for the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League and the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint Car League will pay $2000 to win and $300 to start, while the POWRi Lucas Oil D-II Midget League is presented by Heroes West Sports Grill in honor of Jim “Jimmy” McClean and will pay $500 to win and $100 to start.
Heroes West Sports Grill is located less than 10 miles away from the Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Joliet and offers all kinds of entertainment from your favorite area cover bands and original music, to broadcasted sports events on 45 high definition on flat screen TV's, a kids gaming area, and more. McClean was a renowned midget racer out of the Chicago-area, most commonly competing in the United Auto Racing Association (UARA) and Badger Midget Auto Racing Association (BMARA).
