SPRINGFIELD, MO. (April 11, 2019) – Mother Nature’s relentless attack on the opening stages of the 2019 race season has continued, forcing the cancellation of Saturday’s POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League event at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri due to overwhelming forecasts of impending rain.
The 2019 POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League season opener is now pushed back one week with teams slated for a doubleheader in the Illini State. An appearance at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois is set for Friday, April 19 with a Saturday, April 20 show scheduled for Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Illinois.
Tri-City’s inaugural WAR event on Friday will mark the 35th different track to host a WAR Sprint League event, serving as a wild card to start the season. Saturday’s show at Spoon River will mark the second race in WAR history at the Canton facility with a previous appearance from July of 2017 won by Chris Windom.
