Grain Valley: It’s been a big week for POWRi Midget and Sprint Racer Wesley Smith. On Thursday night he became a college graduate, and on Friday night he schooled the field at Valley Speedway in POWRi Valley Outlaw Midget Competition.
For Smith it was his second victory of the season in the Valley Midget Series, and his third victory at the Grain Valley Dirt Track in 2019 after also winning previously in the Helm #12 Sprinter. The Nixa gasman would take his 18th victory in the KC area midget series over point leader A.J. Gilbert of Tonganoxie. For Gilbert he duplicated his runner up finish the last time the Midgets were at Valley on April, 26th.
While Kearney racer Brad Wyatt would round out the top three after nipping Merril Lamb for fourth, with Heath Murry coming home in fifth. In heat race action earlier in the program, Smith would win the first heat in the WSR Racing #44, while Lamb would take an impressive victory in heat number two over 2017 Champ Dustin Gilbert. Next Friday night the POWRi Valley Outlaw Sprints will return for their third time at the Grain Valley Dirt Track in 2019.
