GARDEN CITY, KANS. (July 2, 2019) – Converging on Airport Raceway in Garden City, Kans. this Friday and Saturday, July 5-6, fans of the “Midget Round Up” will be treated to a duel between teams of the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League and the POWRi Lucas Oil Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association.
An annual meeting between the Oklahoma and Colorado organizations, the Midget Round Up has turned into a yearly staple at the Garden City, Kans. facility. An event promoted by fellow racer Tony Bruce Jr., Kansas fans have seen some spectacular racing over the years as this race has blossomed.
In 2018, Wesley Smith of Nixa, Mo. topped the opening night ahead of Kory Schudy and Hank Davis. On night two, the podium remained the same, but just flip-flopped with Davis of Sand Springs, Okla. finding the win ahead of Smith and Schudy.
The 2017 edition of the Midget Round Up saw Matt Moore of Bethany, Okla. score his first-career POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League victory in front of Grady Chandler and Keith Rauch. The final night saw Schudy claim the win with Casey Shuman and Chandler chasing him to the stripe.
For the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midgets, Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. leads the way with 3,260 points on the strength of his two victories at Port City Raceway. Trailing him in the chase for the championship is Cannon McIntosh (-650), Hank Davis (-710), Chance Morton (-1,000) and Kade Morton (1,140).
Currently on top of the POWRi Lucas Oil Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association standings is Keith Rauch, who holds command ahead of Zac Taylor (-25), Mark Chisholm (-26), Paul Babich (-30), and Bob Harr (-31).
