WHEATLAND, MO. (September 20, 2019) – Recording a near-perfect night, Chris Windom of Canton, Ill. set quicktime in his qualifying group, won his heat race from fourth, won his qualifier from sixth, and charged to third-from-eighth in Thursday’s preliminary feature. A performance strong enough to earn him an unmatched tally of 250 points, slotting him and his Goacher Racing, NOS Energy Drink No. 5G atop the WAR Sprints points through one night of the Jesse Hockett / Daniel McMillin Memorial.
Showcasing a revamped format that features split preliminary programs for the second year now, fans were treated to action-packed races all night long and drivers were challenged to provide peak performance at all times with points constantly on the line. From the fast and furious group qualifying flights and the intense heat races (four-car inversion) to the cutthroat qualifiers (six-car inversion) and nearly non-stop feature (eight-car inversion), excitement was plenty on night one.
Winning Thursday’s preliminary feature from fifth, Zach Daum of Pocahontas, Ill. rose to second in points with 248 markers for his Daum Motorsports No. 5D. Joe B. Miller of Millersville, Mo. charged from 12th-to-fifth in the feature and collected 218 points aboard his McGarry Motorsports No. 31B.
Mitchell Moore led the opening 16 laps of the feature and held on for a second-place result, earning 214 points for his No. 51 entry. Garrett Aitken of Paris, Ill. stepped up big with a 213-point performance backed by a group qualifying quicktime and heat race win.
Rounding out the top ten in Thursday’s point standings was Kory Schudy at 209, Landon Simon at 208, Korey Weyant at 208, Ty Hulsey at 188 and Thomas Meseraull at 186.

At the conclusion of Friday’s program, the top 10 in combined points from both nights will lock-in for Saturday’s Pole Shuffle, which determines the starting lineup for the first five rows of the main event. Those 11th and beyond will split into four Rocket Races, with the top two finishers transferring to the main event and sending the rest to B-Mains or a Non-Qualifier Feature.
