Belleville, IL. (04/21/2020) All eyes of the POWRi Midget League simulated racing world were tuned into the Tulsa Expo Square on Tuesday night, as over sixty digital competitors filled the virtual pits vying for a shot at the spotlight. Plus the addition of only running a limited field of 19 feature event starters, meant that drivers were to be elbow’s up and eager to start.
Leading all fifty feature laps #09 Daison Pursley would use a quick qualifying time to set the precedence early for the POWRi Midget iRacing League. Overcoming several field-bunching restarts, Pursley was able to dodge all challenges for the prized position after two straight weeks of finishing in the virtual runner-up spot. Team “TUHB” driver Daison was able to fend off the hot-streaking #24 Jayden Wolf, who used an inside-line to perfection gaining several positions in the closing laps to finish in second by only a 0.168 margin. Running side-by-side at the finish #8 Jeffrey Denney and #71 Cannon McIntosh would swap running spots several times during the race, with both drivers in the mix for the front Denney would gain the edge placing third as McIntosh placed fourth. Ethan Bill #23 would round out the feature’s top five finishers.
With early racing excitement aiding to set the field, six heat races were used provisionally as #09 Daison Pursley, #18 James Tiernan, #20 Brennan Rogers, #42 Emerson Axsum, #71 Cannon McIntosh, and #7 Jeffrey Denney all gaining heat race wins. As another run of alphabet-soup qualifiers were necessary to set the field, winners included: E-Feature #43 Mason Magee, D-Feature #9 Will Armitage, C-Feature #26 Cody G. Williams, and B-Feature #4 Robert Dalby.
Next up for the POWRi Midget iRacing League on Tuesday, April 27th is a venture to the virtual world of Lanier National Speedway, a wide-open, moderately-banked 3/8 mile oval. Featuring both simulated and physical competitors the POWRi Midget Racing League will continue as an open registration at this time. Rooms open at 7:00 pm CST. Drivers must be there ready to enter at that time to gain entry with only 64 spots available for competitors. Any current POWRi League drivers planning on participating who have not registered should message POWRi West Midget League on Facebook via Eric Fenton.
