Belleville, IL. (05/01/2020) As various states are lifting restrictions on outdoor gatherings, many tracks, series, and leagues are working diligently to offer competitors and fans the best possible racing options all the while keeping everyone’s safety at the forefront. At this junction, POWRi and Airport Raceway officials are moving forward as scheduled with the 5th Annual Midget Round-Up presented by Burtis Motors & RapidCost on May 23rd and May 24th.
Located just ten miles east of Garden City, Kansas, Airport Raceway offers drivers a one-of-a-kind wheeling experience with mid-level banking on “the fastest 1/6th mile-dirt oval in Kansas”. Normally run as a mid-season staple, this year’s running of the Midget Round-Up will kick off the year-long quest for the crown of the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League.
Last season would witness #44s Andrew Felker, from Carl Junction, Missouri, capitalize on this two-day POWRi West Midget League point’s event by winning Night #1, and placing on the podium in Night #2, of the Airport Raceway Midget Round-Up. Using skill, momentum, and points earned from five feature wins Felker would end the season with the top championship banner in the POWRi West.
Not to be outdone with amazing and daring driving features, Night #2 of the Airport Raceway Midget Round-Up would also see #7M Chance Morton, of Coweta, Oklahoma, earning the victory. Driving from a sixth starting spot, Chance would outrun the field to the line, notching his lone 2019 POWRi West Midget League feature victory. Which driver will try to de-thrown Morton as all roads lead to the Sunflower State for Midget supremacy in mid-May?
Heading into the 2020 POWRi West Midget League season with a clean slate of points, every driver is eager to make their case for their own season making moment. With top competitors from all over anxiously awaiting a venue to open the gates for races, this “Midget Round-Up” is taking shape and targets to be a can’t miss show that sends the POWRi West Midget League into a summer of speed and close competition.
The 5th Annual Midget Round-Up presented by Burtis Motors & RapidCost at Airport Speedway will kick off the weekend of fun-filled racing on Saturday, May 23rd followed by Sunday, May 24th as a completely new show following the same timeframes and guidelines.
