Belleville, IL. (05/05/2020) Putting on one of the best shows from start to finish the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget iRacing League at Eldora Speedway would not disappoint. As both physical and simulated drivers from all forms entered the digital world of Ohio, epic side by side racing would break out for the prized position with #20 Brennan Roger prevailing by mere inches at the checkered stripe.
Massive speeds and three-wide racing was the trend of the night at Eldora as #40 Chase McDermand would be in fine form leading the first half of the forty lap feature. Using a mid-race restart McDermand, #20 Brennan Rogers, and #09 Daison Pursley would display their driving talents, all battling within pixels of each other as Rogers would ultimately gain the edge. Leading the field in green flag action Brennan and TUHB teammate Pursley would swap the lead several times until a late-race caution bunched the drivers up for one last green-white-checkered finish. After a great restart and with two final laps left it was Daison in the top spot as Rogers gained an inside line down the backstretch, with an ample supply of sliders on both ends of the track Brennan Rogers would use the high-side momentum off four to win spectacularly. Pursley would finish second by less than half a car length at 0.059 seconds back, as one-time leader McDermand rounded out the podium in a race that will not be forgotten anytime soon.
On par with iRacing events of the past, a plethora of heat-race and last chance qualifiers were required to set the field of top twenty-four competitors. Heat race winners included; #40 Chase McDermand, #20 Brenna Rogers, #09 Daison Pursely, and #42 Emerson Axsom. Last chance qualifier winners were; D-Feature winner-#54 Trey Gropp, C-Feature winner-#21 Karter Sarff, B-Feature winner-#23 Kenny Miller. Both Gropp and Sarff would run the gauntlet of alphabet soup, racing their way from the first last-chance qualifier into the main feature with style.
This event wraps up the six-week POWRi Midget iRacing League competition, POWRi would like to thank all drivers from putting on great shows during this inaugural season. More details on the final League point’s battle and future endeavors will be released in the following days.
