Belleville, IL. (06/16/2020) The POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprints were back in action this past Saturday night at I-35 Speedway. Racing was fast and close all night with fifteen competitors gaining entry all contesting for the top prize on the three-eighths-mile oval.
After persistent front runners, Jeff Bard #71 and Bobby Layne #01 would both find speed in the early stages of the night winning their respective heat races. Feature action would be closely challenged as Stanley Kreisel #18 would race from a sixth starting spot to cross by the checkers first claiming his second win this season, winning in a hard-fought battle over Chase Fischer #22. Fischer was among the hunt all race, starting seventh to finish in the runner-up position. Ken Billings #85 and Mark Billings #51 would battle meticulously back and forth as Ken would gain the edge finishing third with Mark fourth. Bobby Layne #01 rounded out the features top five.
Saturday, June 20th The POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lighting Sprints will next race at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO. The racing in the Midwest Lightning Sprints is fiercely competitive. With low-cost maintenance and motorcycle power, this is still the most economical way to go fast in a race car. These cars are 1 1/2 seconds a lap faster than an A Mod or a Late Model.
