Kenny Bowers Wins KC Raceway Debut with Return to I-35 Speedway Next for POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints

Belleville, IL. (09/12/2020) Visiting the fast and multiple racing grooves of KC Raceway for the first time in series history, the POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprints would find the one-fifth-mile dirt oval located on the outskirts of Independence, Missouri to their liking. With top-notch speeds and excellent side-by-side racing exploits on Saturday, September 12th as Kenny Bowers would emerge victorious in the MLS inaugural visit to the fast-racy track.

Early racing achievements would see the front-row starting spots gain advantages as Kenny Bowers #49b and Brandon Smith #11 would both pick-up heat race wins from their pole-starting spots. Using a passing-point system from the heat race competition to set the field for the feature event, Bowers and Smith would lead the pack to the initial green flag start.

Gaining the preferred bottom-line entering into the first pair of corners Kenny Bowers #49b would hold the top spot on the exit of turn two, leading the first lap of POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprint feature racing at KC Raceway. In fine form all evening Bowers would protect his lead for the remainder of the race notching his first POWRi MLS feature win this season and third win in two years within the series.

Brandon Smith #11 would attempt nearly every lap to get around the speedy Bowers but ultimately would come up 1.117 seconds short, placing in the second position. Chasity Younger #10 and Chase Fischer #22 would have quite the battle between the two for the final podium position as a late-race restart would see Fischer get past Younger in a hard battle for third and fourth with Mike Tinzell #91 rounding out the top-five finishers in the POWRi MLS premiere at KC Raceway.

Next on the season agenda for the POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprints is Saturday, September 19th in a return trip to the series home racing surfaces of I-35 Speedway. Revisiting the familiar dirt-banks of Winston Missouri for the second-to-last season points race for competitors vying for a championship banner. Pit Gates open at 4 PM with Drivers Registration from 4-6 PM. Hot Laps begin at 6:30 PM as great racing action follows.
