Belleville, IL. (10/04/2020) The POWRi Lucas Oil New Mexico Motor Racing Association will once again grace the friendly confines of their home-racing facility of Sandia Speedway on Saturday, October 10th for the crowd-pleasing, high-flying, Sprint Car Stampede. Top non-wing 360 sprinters from near and far will flock to the premier three-eighths-mile dirt-oval in Bernalillo County New Mexico for side-by-side racing action and bragging right honors of winning.
Limited in events in 2020, the POWRi NMMRA has not lacked on the quality side of features heading into their sixth race this season as #99 Caleb Saiz, of Albuquerque NM, sits atop the point championship chase. Saiz has notched a pair of feature victories this year first topping the field at Sandia Speedway in mid-July then again besting the other non-wing competitors at Alien Speedway in early August. Staying well in the season-long quest for a points title #11w Spencer Hill, from Albuquerque, NM, has used consistency with five top-five finishes to stay close to Saiz, only trailing the leader by nine points.
Winner of the previous two features #45x/148 Don Grable, of El Paso TX, rounds out the podium placements for the points standings, skyrocketing up the standings only seventeen points out of the top spot. Trailing Grable by only a single point, Rio Rancho, New Mexico motorist #24 Robert Marfia has stayed close all season and appears to be well within the hunt for a title heading into the final race of the season.
Saturday, October 10th for the Sprint Car Stampede with the POWRi Lucas Oil New Mexico Motor Racing Association at Sandia Speedway; Pit Gates open at Noon, with Hot Laps scheduled for 3:30 PM, with racing action to follow. Classes scheduled to compete include the POWRi Lucas Oil NMMRA Non-Wing Sprints, 360 Wing Sprint, Non-Wing & Wing Mini's, Stock Cars, and Cruisers.
