Belleville, IL. (05/03/2021) Kicking off the 2021 campaign at I-76 Speedway, the Lucas Oil POWRi Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprints would invade Fort Morgan Colorado for a full night of great racing action. Starting the season off strong, fourteen-time series feature winner Johnny Boos would add yet another victory to his outstanding Lightning Sprint career.
With eighteen POWRi RMLS drivers checking into the pits of I-76 Speedway for the season opener, three heat races were needed to help set the field for the feature event with Blair Cooper, BJ Sauer, and Johnny Boos all gaining the early on-track advantages.
As the green flag waved on the feature event #21B of BJ Sauer would take the early lead and showing the way for the first six laps separating himself from Boos and Cooper. Sauer would develop mechanical issues ending his night and relinquishing the lead to #24B Johnny Boos.
Boos would be in for a battle upfront as the remaining laps ticked away at a rapid pace with #32 Blair Cooper and a hard-charging #39X Dakota Dillin keeping pace with the leader. The series leading winner Johnny Boos would be up for the challenge, sticking to the quickest line and earning his fifteenth POWRi RMLS series feature victory. Cooper and Dillin would finish close behind with Cooper gaining the runner-up position and Dillin rounding out the feature’s top-five finishers.
