Belleville, IL. (05/29/2021) Lightning Sprint competitors from all over would travel to Warrensburg Missouri for the Third Annual POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals at Central Missouri Speedway. With an outstanding representation of forty-four of the nation’s top talents all vying for the feature win, Jac Nickles would emerge victorious using a precise approach to the tricky track.
Early racing action would find Johnny Boos, Dakota Dillon, Andy Flood, Paden Moreland, and Tom Brown all winning their respective heats as Chris Crowder and Josiah King earned the semi-feature wins. With the first night of the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals ready for green flag action, High-Point Qualifier Dakota Dillon would start pole position with Tom Brown lined up on the outside.
Going green flag racing on the main event would find caution flags plaguing the exciting action as many drivers were eager to get to the front in hopes of winning the first night of the national event. Once the action commenced, Johnny Boos from a sixth starting spot would take command of the lead.
With Boos out front and the laps winding down a late-race caution would group the racers back together for a late-race restart. Using a low-line maneuver in turns three and four would find eighth starting Jac Nickles gain a slight advantage up front, establishing the new leader with seven laps remaining.
Nickles would proceed to pull away from the field earning the feature victory while finishing in an impressive runner-up position, Colorado wheelman Johnny Boos would hold off the hard charge of Missouri Legend Bobby Layne who finished third. Driving from deep in the field from a twenty-second starting spot would see California’s Jeff Dyer solidify an outstanding hard-charge by finishing fourth as fellow Golden State driver James Turnbull rounded out the top-five finishers in Night One of the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals.
