Belleville, IL. (07/11/2021) Flying into the weekend for not only one feature event but a make-up feature to boot, the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints would tackle the speedy Greenbush Race Park over the weekend with Dexter Dvergsten grabbing his seventh win of the year by driving his way to the front in both outstanding races.
Running the Greenbush Race Park make-up feature from the July 3rd rain-out first, the POWRi MKLS would see Kelsi Pederson and Alex Truscinski each gain their heat race wins as Weston Olson would lead the field to green from a feature pole-starting spot.
Green flag racing at Greenbush would see Dexter Dvergsten run to the front from a third starting position with hard-charging Kelsi Pederson in hot-pursuit. Dvergsten would hold off the speedy Pederson for the feature win with Kelsi finishing runner-up in close battle as Alex Truscinski placing third. Alan Truscinski and Olson would also have a heated battle with Alan gaining the fourth finishing position, leaving Weston to round out the Greenbush Race Park top-five for the POWRi MKLS.
Running two nights worth of feature racing in one evening, the POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint drivers would be up the wheel at Greenbush Race Park with Weston Olson and Dexter Dvergsten claiming heat race wins.
Pacing the field for the start of the second feature event would find Kelsi Pederson and Mark Williams in a spirited battle for the front as the green flag waved. Pederson would find the low line to her advantage, taking the lead early and appearing to be the driver to beat.
With Pederson out front showing the fastest line, Dexter Dvergsten would mount a charge to the lead from a fourth starting spot. Dvergsten and Pederson would fly around Greenbush wing to wing with neither driver showing any weakness. Dexter would eventually gain the racing edge to hold on for his series-leading fifteenth POWRi MKLS feature win in the past two seasons.
Running an outstanding night, Kelsi Pederson would notch her second running-up finish in the evening as Alan Truscinski finished third. Marking his best finish of the season, Travis Surerus would place a solid fourth with Alex Truscinski rounding out the Greenbush Race Park feature’s top-five finishers for the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints.
