Belleville, IL. (8/7/2021) Back to the familiar running grounds of I-35 Speedway, the Lucas Oil POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints would once again battle wing-to-wing at their home facility for feature race supremacy. After an elbows-up event on a tricky track, Bobby Layne would notch his fourteenth feature win since 2016 and grabbing the outright lead in career POWRi MLS wins in the process.
Heat racing action would find the fast, up-and-coming, Trice Roden fly to the early on-track victory. Green-flag feature racing would witness front-row starters Jeff Bard and Bobby Layne wage a racing war for the top position with neither driver letting the other run away with the lead. Running a spirited racing line, Bobby Layne would grab the front of the field and never let up, leading when the checkers fell on a fifteen-lap feature event.
Holding steady, Jeff Bard would place a close second with Kenny Bowers finding speed in the late stages of the feature to finish third. Trice Roden would battle towards the front from starting seventh to finish fourth, earning his second-straight hard-charger award. Chasity Younger would be in the mix up front all event to round out the POWRi MLS top five finishers at I-35 Speedway.
