Belleville, IL. (8/15/2021) Hometown heroics would be the trend at Greenbush Race Park on Saturday night with the third night of the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints Summer Shoot-Out. Greenbush Minnesota’s own Alex Truscinski found the fastest way around the speedy and smooth surfaces, earning his ninth series victory and shining brightly against national competition.
With a stacked field of thirty-two POWRi Lightning Sprints drivers signing in for racing action Kelsi Pederson, Brent Sexton, Braden Chiaramonte, and Dexter Dvergsten would all win their respective heat races with Kate Taves earning the semi-feature event. After flying from last-to-first in her heat race, Kelsi Pederson would earn the night’s High Point Award and pole-starting position for the main-event.
Elbows-Up racing and wing-to-wing battles would ensue all around Greenbush Race Park with Pederson grabbing the lead early by setting a blistering pace as drivers vied for every position behind her. With Pederson out front, Alex Truscinski would launch from a fifth-starting spot to run-down the leading Kelsi overtaking for the lead with less than five-laps into the feature.
In front of an enthusiastically packed crowd, Truscinski would not look back once acquiring the lead as young-gun Braden Chiaramonte continues to impress with another outstanding runner-up finish. Hanging around the front of the field for the entire event Alan Truscinski would join his son in victory lane ceremonies by rounding out the podium placement with Pederson slipping to finish fourth in the later stages. Local talents would shine as Dexter Dvergsten rounded out the top-five at Greenbush Race Park, with four of the five finishers representing the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints in their hosting Summer Shoot-Out series. Brandon Smith and Jeff Bard would share hard-charging efforts in the feature by both surpassing eleven other drivers during green-flag racing.
