Randy was born in to a family of sprint car fans. From an early age, he was immersed in the culture of dirt track racing with a love of cars and anything automotive related, with a dream of one day becoming a racecar driver. Growing up, he along with his family were regulars at the local dirt tracks, like Duke City Raceway, then later Hollywood hills and Sandia speedway. Along with being at the track, Randy and his father would go around to the race shops of local drivers deepening his love and passion for racing. After high school, he attended trade school and obtained a degree in diesel truck technology. After graduation he started his career as an automotive mechanic all while still trying to chase his dream of driving a race car.
In 2019 Randy and his wife were invited to join the Hal Burns Racing team pit crew but current crew member and former sprint car driver and former New Mexico Motor Racing Association (NMMRA) Champion Steve Nix. Starting on the crew he started out scraping the mud off of and washing the car at the track as well as adjusting tire pressures and adding fuel. Thru hard work and dedication he worked his way up to being a more integral member of the crew. With the tutelage of crew members Steve Nix, Clyde Hill, and team owner David Burns he learned how to build, set up and adjust the race car as well as understand how to read the changes of the track surface and adjust the car accordingly. He has come to work well with current Hal Burns Racing driver and former NMMRA champion Caleb Saiz on all aspects of setting up the car and understanding what the drivers needs are for making the car handle well and preforming the adjustments necessary to making it happen. At the end of the 2023 race season he was given the opportunity to strap in the Hal Burns Racing #52nm and compete in his first two races with the help of the entire team. Through hard work and dedication and the support of an amazing team he has worked his way up thru the ranks and looks forward to the opportunity of getting to race again in the 2024 season.
